The Southern Humboldt Unified Public school District is calling all interested students, parents, and community members to enrol in a caravan to Sacramento next Tuesday, Jan. 24, to let our state legislators and Governor Jerry Brown remember how important school bus transportation is to rural communities.

SHUSD head Jim Stewart announced the planned caravan at the monthly meeting of the department trustees last Thursday, Jan. 12. He said that everyone in the school district's database would be called to invite them to the consequence, which would also be announced on KMUD Radio and the “Bus Stop to Nowhere” Facebook spot.

Because of statewide budget cuts, Southern Humboldt students veneer a future without school bus service, or at best extremely limited bus maintenance, when the district's current transportation funds run out in mid-February. (See related experiences in our Jan. 10 issue.
