Introducing amazing Alocasia Amazonica

Unfortunately, it was a new above moreover to her plant collection and she had no idea what it was called. She admitted having purchased it because of its radical two-tone leaf coloration.

I eventually came across this embellishing foliage plant with a label identifying it as “African Mask,” Alocasia Amazonica. This exceptional Alocasia, (pronounced alo-CAY-see-a), is a hybrid, not a species, developed by a hybridizer in the 1950s, who worked in a skimpy nursery in Miami. Sometimes this plant is referred to as Jewel Alocasia or Alocasia Alligator.

Alocasia species, which sum up over 100, are native to tropical and subtropical areas of Asia and Eastern Australia where they are grown outdoors and dream up large clumps in a shady garden. Since they are not hardy, we need to curing them as houseplants if they are to survive our winters.
