CELORON - The village of Celoron hosted its alternate annual Olde Fashion Christmas Celebration recently.
There were horse-strained wagon rides, Christmas music and refreshments at the Community Center, a stop in from Santa and Mrs. Claus at the bandshell and a performance by the Jamestown Harmony Get across. The event ended with the lighting of the 10 Celoron family Christmas trees.
Mayor John Keeney announced the following winners of the Event Lighting Contest:
Best Use of Lights - Jim Eck, 42 Gifford Ave.;
Most artistically Christmas Theme - Steven and Stacey Grundstrom, 69 W. Duquesne St.;
Most Inner Display - Mike Madison and family, 25 W. 9th St., W.E.;
Best Use of Christmas Characters - Steve and Marilyn Wozneak, 2 E. 5th St., W.E.
In adding, 10 local organizations participated in the 2011 Celoron Relations Christmas Tree Lighting which took place in Lucille Ball Memento Park. The organizations included the Celoron United Methodist Church, 28 E. Livingston Ave.; C&A Auto & Seagoing, 181 Dunham Ave., W.E.; Celoron Hose Company No. 1, Inc., 92-94 Dunham Ave.; Celoron Rod & Gun Society, 210 E. Livingston Ave.; Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association, 10 Chadakoin Parkway; Industrial Welding & Fabricating Plc, 121 E. Jackson Ave., W.E.; Lakewood-Celoron Loyal Order of Moose #2587, 52 Dunham Ave.; Aggregate-N-Lock Self Storage, 378 E. Livingston Ave., W.E.; TRC Day Habilitation, 200 Dunham Ave., W.E.; and Carlson Vessel Livery, 150 Boulevard Ave. The winning entry was Carlson Speedboat Livery.
