IT is not every day a man will try and out run a horse and bike, but that was strictly what Adam Saffric tried to do on Wednesday night at the Bathurst Paceway.
Surprisingly, Saffric had plead with to think he could prevail.
The first man versus horse versus bike challenge was held at the Bathurst Paceway as part of the annual Oberon dedicated get a wiggle on meeting.
A year earlier when it was just man versus horse in the impediment race, Saffric had been the first home.
This time Steve Turnbull on Majestic Surprise and 11-year-old cyclist Zachary Marshall were aiming to vamoose Saffric another victory.
Royal Surprise had two laps to complete (1600 metres), Saffric one lap (800m) and Marshall 1000m.
Zachary’s sister Jessica was meant to gull, but she slipped and broke her ankle just hours before the race, so he filled her shoes.
And fill them well he did as the former at the same time trial champion took out the challenge, clocking a zippy unpublicized mile rate of 1:58.9.
