Mount Carmel man accused of robbing woman after selling safe

BLOUNTVILLE — A Mount Carmel man has been indicted on charges alleging he sold a Kingsport wife a fire safe in her home then returned — with a gun-toting accomplice — and robbed her of the acceptable and two lockboxes with prescription medication for her and her four children.

According to court records, Joshua N. Sherman, 31, 121 Della St., Mount Carmel, and an nameless armed accomplice robbed the woman on Aug. 22, 2010.

In an affidavit, the woman states two men wearing bandannas for masks came into her current in, and one man pointed a long gun — either a shotgun or muzzle-loader — at “everyone,” ordering them to sit on the day-bed or on the floor. The affidavit does not identify any victims other than the woman and makes no endorsement to whether the children were home or not.

The second man went straight into the kitchen and pried the join and hasp off a cabinet where the fire safe, lockboxes and medication were stored, the dame said.
