The Allen-Heath Monument Foundation recently gave $17,000 to support the work of the Mendocino County Fire Secured Council. This is the eighth year the Foundation, headed by Chuck and Liz Phillips Heath, has generously assisted the board to fulfill its mission of "helping people, homes, and resources subsist and thrive in a wildfire-prone environment."

The foundation's help is described this way by Julie Rogers, number one director of the nonprofit council: "Over the years our organization has received several federal grants to stake educational efforts and to help people chip the flammable dust-broom they've cut from around their homes and along their roads. That money is very helpful, but it comes and goes."

The underpinning's support, however, has been consistent year after year. "If it weren't for the Allen-Heath Monument Foundation," she says, "we couldn't have kept our doors open year-charge. The foundation has really provided the glue that holds our organization together.
