They made their cultural marks performing, in some way, in Northeast Ohio.

They gave to the theater, in front of audiences or behind the scenes in substantiate roles. They sang, belting out rock tunes, or covered those who did. They made their habitation with microphone in hand, produced ground-breaking albums, served delectable meals.

They were creators.

Some you might remember. Some you might not know as well. They left us this year; all are worthy of a final homage.

James B. Binns, 82, led Huntington Playhouse, Jan. 10: In 1969, Binns and two colleagues took over the nonprofit Huntington Playhouse in an old barn in Bay Village. He went on to dispose the community theater for 22 years. He won local acting awards and appeared in Hollywood movies, acted with Geraldine Call off-Broadway, and acted and directed at the Cleveland Playhouse and Lakewood Wee Theater. He once roomed with Dom DeLuise, and stayed in a New York apartment down the corridor from Marlon Brando.
